National Philanthropy Day is always a special day to recognize and pay tribute to the great contributions that philanthropy — and those active in the philanthropic community — make to our lives, communities and world. This year on November 16th, AFP Golden Gate celebrates inspirational Bay Area individuals, organizations and businesses who generously give their time, talents and resources to all that philanthropy makes possible.

Master of Ceremonies Sydnie Kohara, Kohara Group LLC: Sydnie has more than 30 years experience helping people tell their
stories around the world, from Singapore to London and San Francisco to
New York. As an Emmy award-winning broadcast journalist, she's
interviewed business legends, international luminaries and political
leaders, from Richard Branson of Virgin Airlines and Alibaba's Jack Ma
to Aki Abe, wife of Japan's prime minister, former Secretary of State
Madeleine Albright and U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein. With the Kohara
Group, Sydnie produces media projects and corporate webinars for Fortune
500 companies like Oracle and Charles Schwab & Company, and
provides executive training and strategic media plans for a diverse set
of clients. Her latest fundraising video helped raise a million dollars
for one Bay Area nonprofit! Sydnie is a member of Asia Foundation's
Lotus Circle, a vibrant community of philanthropists championing work
across 18 countries.
Presentation to Honorees: Honorees have video about their work shown, and make remarks and receive award on stage.
Spirit of Philanthropy Awardees: These awards are given to individuals recognized by table sponsors.
In Tribute: Musical guests accompany a slideshow honoring members of the philanthropic community who have passed away in the past year.
